Jeff Sessions: Securing Our Borders and Getting Tough on Illegal Immigration

“I will not support citizenship for people who entered the country illegally…And there’s no moral, no legal, no principled reason why this United States government should reward people who broke the law and entered the country illegally with every benefit that you give to somebody who comes lawfully.” – Jeff Sessions

TWICE Led the charge to block illegal alien amnesty

  • Fought and defeated the 2013 “Gang of Eight” Amnesty and Weak on Borders Bill
  • Successfully blocked 2006-2007 amnesty bill in Senate
  • Ended Obama’s illegal executive amnesty (DACA/DAPA)
  • Stopped Obama’s “Court Amnesty” by speeding up illegal crossing prosecutions.
  • Released a 2015 “Immigration Handbook for the New Republican Majority” – ideas that President Trump later campaigned on, won, and implemented.
  • Authored and passed a bill to build 700 more miles of border wall. (Liberal Democrats defunded it)
  • The media noted Sessions strong-border and enforcement agenda:
    • CNN said Session is “by far the Senate’s toughest critic of the bill.”
    • Sessions offered “almost 50 amendments to the Judiciary
    • Committee and is trying to derail the bill at nearly every turn.”
    • Los Angeles Times said Sessions is “the Senate’s fiercest opponent of immigration” and played a “crucial role in the movement when he helped lead the opposition to the 2007 [amnesty] bill.”
    • ABC News: Sessions “helped lead a conservative revolt against a similar [2007 amnesty].”
    • Heritage Foundation said: Sessions has “the reputation of being the most aggressive and dogged opponent of the amnesty bill… [and] fought the bill to the last vote in the Senate.”

Worked to de-fund so-called “sanctuary cities,” who harbor dangerous criminal aliens.

Fought to keep biometric tracking of visitors and immigrants.

  • Sought a mandatory and fully-funded E-Verify system to confirm legal worker status.

Ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) to stop using the misleading term “undocumented immigrants” and refer to unlawful entrants correctly as “illegal aliens.”

  • DOJ Memo: “The word ‘undocumented’ is not based in US code and should not be used to describe someone’s illegal presence in the country.”

Instituted a “zero tolerance” policy for illegal aliens with 100% prosecution as Attorney General.

  • Sessions in 2018: “If you cross the border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you. It’s that simple. If you smuggle illegal aliens across our border, then we will prosecute you.”

Sessions: “Illegally entering this country will not be rewarded, but will instead be met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice. To the Department’s prosecutors, I urge you: promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens.”

Stood up for US workers and victims of illegal alien crime – by raising wages and deporting criminals.
