Jeff Sessions: Steadfast Champion of the Second Amendment and Gun Freedom

Lifetime –100% NRA A+ Rating

  • Endorsed candidate for US Senate, 2014 , 2008, and 2002.
  • Featured speaker at 2016 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum.
  • Supported by NRA for Attorney General including paid TV campaigns and op-eds.
  • Chris Cox, NRA Executive Director wrote in 2017: “Sessions knows that law-abiding gun owners are not the problem. He strongly supports our Second Amendment freedoms and will work tirelessly to protect them… Sessions has repeatedly called out anti-gun lawmakers for this hypocrisy. For decades, he has focused on the need to enforce existing laws, rather than pushing for new regulations that only affect the law-abiding. He is a constitutional lawyer with a deep understanding of the law, who believes in a justice system that is fair and equitable to all Americans. Throughout his time in the U.S. Senate, Jeff Sessions has been a strong leader for our rights.”

Protected Gun-Makers from Malicious Lawsuits Meant to Bankrupt Them

  • Lead the charge for and co-sponsored the 2005 “Protection of Lawful Commerce of Arms Act.”
  • Delivered a supportive floor speech on July 28, 2005: “It is a practical act to protect manufacturers and sellers of a lawful item, and it has constitutional implications because the destruction of our firearms industry in America indeed would implicate and undermine the constitutional right Americans have of keeping and bearing arms. It is good for jobs. We know American manufacturers are under siege from lawsuits, and we could end up losing an entire industry, which is a pretty big industry. It is good for our police and national defense; that is where they get their firearms. The Secretary of Defense wrote us a letter indicating–actually, the legal counsel wrote the letter to say they support it because they are concerned about the manufacturing capability of firearms used by our military. The same companies fighting these suits are also the companies that produce firearms for the military and our police forces.”

Opposed efforts to allow gun confiscation if a national emergency is declared.
